The manager hiring crisis makes the headlines. The vacancy that actually hurts is the deputy clerk's desk that's been empty six months.

In a previous community, I was looking for someone to serve as a "technical assistant" in my Construction Office. In practice it was administrative support work with one specialized wrinkle: some familiarity with the building code process in a busy permitting environment.
